Sam Stosur, the 22nd seed from Australia, completed a straight sets win over Urszula Radwanska, dispatching the Pole 6-3 6-4.
American Madison Keys recovered from losing the opening set to post a 6-7 6-3 6-4 victory over Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland in their first-round tie on Court Three.
