Britain's Kyle Edmund is through to the second round of the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest after victory over Lukas Rosol.

The 21-year-old won both sets on a tie-break to record a 7-6 7-6 win over his 30-year-old opponent from the Czech Republic.

He now faces Spanish world number 37 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, who had a bye in the first round.

"It was my first match on clay so I needed to make adjustments from hard to clay. I never expected to play my best tennis today," Edmund, who fired in 11 aces to knock out the 2013 champion, told atpworldtour.com.

"The weather has been hot and warm, which is quite different than in England, so it is taking me a bit of time to adjust to the conditions."
