Kevin Anderson battles past Nick Kyrgios in Chengdu

Kevin Anderson saved two match points before prevailing against number two seed Nick Kyrgios at the Chengdu Open.

The Australian appeared on course for a routine straight-sets win as he won the first set 6-3 and then forced two match points in a second set tie-break.

But Anderson rallied to take four straight points to steal the set and then took the third to claim a 3-6 7-6 (8/6) 6-2 victory.

Top seed Dominic Thiem made serene progress against Di Wu in a 6-4 6-4 win while Viktor Troicki beat Marcos Baghdatis 6-3 4-6 6-2 and Albert Ramos-Vinolas saw off Yen-Hsun Lu 7-6 (7/4) 3-6 6-4.

Tomas Berdych edged a tight affair with Mikhail Kukushkin in the Shenzhen Open, taking two tie-breaks in a 7-6 (9/7) 7-6 (7/4) success.

Bernard Tomic needed three sets to beat American Ryan Harrison 6-4 4-6 7-5 while Thomaz Belluci downed Thomas Fabbiano 7-6 (7/2) 7-6 (7/4) and Jiri Vesely got the better of Inigo Cervantes 7-6 (7/2) 6-3.
