Kei Nishikori eases into Memphis Open semi-finals

Top seed Kei Nishikori made it 15 wins in a row at the Memphis Open with a routine 6-2 6-4 victory over Mikhail Kukushkin to reach the semi-finals.

Three-time defending champion Nishikori cashed in on three of his 12 break points while saving all five he faced on his own serve.

Sam Querrey is waiting for Nishikori in the last four after a 6-3 6-4 win over Yoshihito Nishioka.

Querrey told the ATP's official website: "We had a lot of close games, it was a tough match. I kept hitting through the court, and I didn't lay off on many balls. I was happy with the way I played.

"I didn't know much about Nishioka, except that he's a crafty lefty. It was tough to hit the ball through him but I kept pressing."

Taylor Fritz continued his remarkable run at the tournament with a 6-4 5-7 7-6 (7/5) triumph over Benjamin Becker and he faces Ricardas Berankis is the semi-finals after the Lithuanian beat third seed Donald Young 7-6 (/7/3) 6-1.
