Croatia's Donna Vekic booked her place in the second round of the Taiwan Open after seeing off eighth seed Alison Riske in three sets.
The 19-year-old bounced back from losing the first set to close out a 4-6 7-6 (7/5) 6-3 win in two hours and 40 minutes.
Third seed Yulia Putintseva eased past Marina Melnikova 6-2 6-3, with fourth seed Zarina Diyas seeing off Lyudmyla Kichenok 5-7 6-1 6-2.
Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele battled past Kai-Chen Chang to win 1-6 6-3 6-4, while fifth seed Saisai Zheng beat Spain's Laura Pous-Tio 6-2 7-5.
Mandy Minella beat Naomi Osaka 6-2 7-6 (7/4) in one hour and 14 minutes, while sixth seed Su-Wei Hsieh edged past Ayaka Okuno in three sets.
Elizaveta Kulichkova overcame Ya-Hsuan Lee 3-6 6-4 6-4, with Kurumi Nara beating Qiang Wang 6-1 6-3.
