Caroline Wozniacki breezed into the second round of the Connecticut Open on Tuesday night as she dispatched American wildcard Alison Riske in less than an hour.

Wozniacki, seeded third, won the first seven games en route to a 6-0 6-2 win in just 58 minutes.

"I know she's beaten Top 10 players before, so I went into this match knowing I had to stay close to the baseline, get a lot of returns deep and just not let her into the match," Wozniacki said on the WTA website.

"I think I played really well tonight. I'm definitely happy with my performance."

The win saw Wozniacki improve to 25-3 at this tournament, having won the title in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

The rest of Tuesday's action was in the second round. Fourth seed Lucie Safarova saw off Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3 6-4, while Dominika Cibulkova rallied for a 2-6 7-6 (7/1) 7-5 win over Kristina Mladenovic.

Caroline Garcia beat last year's finalist, Slovak qualifier Magdalena Rybarikova 7-6 (7/5) 6-4, while lucky loser Lesia Tsurenko advanced with a 6-3 6-0 win over Barbora Strycova.
