Andreas Seppi impresses in Antwerp

Andreas Seppi claimed the first major scalp of the inaugural European Open in Antwerp as he beat eighth seed Federico Delbonis in three sets.

The Italian, who has slipped to 100 in the world rankings will face Robin Haase in the last 16 after taking just under two and a half hours to defeat Delbonis 7-6 (9/7) 5-7 6-3.

World number 60 Haase saw off Paul-Henri Mathieu in straight sets, winning 6-4 6-2.

Spain's Inigo Cervantes set up a clash with third seed Richard Gasquet, surviving a second-set scare to prevail 6-3 3-6 6-1.

In Moscow, Thomaz Bellucci progressed with a 7-5 6-1 win over Cem Ilkel in the VTB Kremlin Cup to set up a potential clash with eighth seed Andrey Kuznetsov, while Lukas Rosol beat Gerald Melzer 7-5 6-2 to book his spot.

Roberto Bautista Agut, runner-up in the Shanghai Masters last week and at this event for the past two years, continues his quest to reach the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 later in the week.

Kevin Anderson came from behind to beat Marcos Baghdatis in the Stockholm Open.

The big-serving South African was behind in the second set and seemingly heading for a first-round exit, but rallied see off the veteran 2-6 6-4 6-2 to set up a tie with Ryan Harrison of the USA.

Qualifier Harrison was a straight-sets victor over Adam Pavlasek, winning 6-3 7-5, while there were also wins for Adrian Mannarino and Radu Albot.

Albot, of Romania, upset fifth seed Steve Johnson 6-3 6-4, while Mannarino will face Alexander Zverev in the last 16 after beating Donald Young 7-5 6-4.
