Wales return up to Roberts says Racing coach

Racing Metro are yet to discuss any potential return to Wales their centre Jamie Roberts may make, the club's forwards coach Laurent Travers said Thursday.

It was widely reported in the Welsh sports press last week that Racing were ready to release the 28-year-old qualified doctor a year early, and that the player himself would jump at the chance.

Travers' statements Thursday neither confirm nor deny a potential move for the midfield powerhouse, who has 67 international appearances to his name.

"For the moment there have been no talks," Travers claimed.

"It may happen, even if we have yet to consider it. He is after all under contract with us (until June 2016)," he explained.

"But if Jamie wants to go home to Wales it'll be a decision to take for him, his agent and the club president," said Travers.

The Welsh press said the fact Roberts will likely be away on lengthy World Cup duty next season could persuade Racing to make the controversial move.

Roberts' former club Cardiff Blues would have first option on his signature, a move some observers feel would suit all parties.
