Fiji winger Albert Vulivuli has joined Montpellier to replace the injured Benjamin Fall, the Top 14 side announced on Friday.

The 29-year old, who featured for Super 15 franchise side Queensland Red, had been playing with La Rochelle since 2013 after stints with Bourgoin and Racing-Metro.

"I received a phone call on Monday asking if I wanted to finish the season with Montpellier. I didn't expect that," Vulivuli said on the club's website.

"I only had two days to decide. I took my car and drove for six hours straight to Montpellier. When I received the offer, I thought 'Wow! Montpellier is a wonderful club'. I seized the opportunity."

French international Fall joined Montpellier at the start of the season but has been sidelined since December due to a shoulder injury.

Currently ninth in the Top-14 with six games to go until the play-offs phase, Montpellier host strugglers Lyon on Saturday.
