Yorkshire Carnegie have announced the signing of Tom Arscott following his sacking by Sale.

The 29-year-old winger had his contract terminated by the Aviva Premiership club last month after allegedly leaking inside information to his brother Luke ahead of the Sharks' clash with Bristol on January 1, and was then given a written warning by the Rugby Football Union.

B ut Carnegie have now offered him a route back into rugby union by handing him a deal until the end of the Greene King IPA Championship season.

Arscott told the club's official website: "I am really pleased to have joined up with Yorkshire Carnegie and I am looking forward to getting started against Jersey on Friday.

"It has been a tough few weeks but I am looking forward to letting my rugby do the talking for the remainder of the season.

"I have been made to feel really welcome by the Yorkshire lads and it has certainly helped that I knew quite a few of them from previous clubs.

"The Greene King IPA Championship is a tough division and it has got stronger in recent years since I last played in it.

"The lads were disappointed with the defeat against Cornish Pirates last weekend but the talk is all about getting things back on track and challenging London Irish all the way until the end of the season."

Carnegie head coach Bryan Redpath, whose side sit second in the Championship table behind Irish, added: "We are delighted to have secured a player of Tom's experience and quality for the remainder of the season. We have a number of options in the backline and Tom will certainly add to that."
