Flanker Thomas Young insists his focus remains on Wasps ahead of a possible debut Wales call up.
The 24-year-old has been tipped to be included in Rob Howley's Six Nations squad, which is named on Tuesday, after a starring role for his club this season.
Young, the son of Wasps director of rugby and former Wales captain Dai, was reportedly courted by England last year although was already tied to Wales having featured for their under-20 side.
And while the former Gloucester and Cardiff player wants to represent his country he says he cannot be distracted after a last-gasp 17-14 win in the European Champions Cup against Toulouse on Saturday.
"It's massive, it's something everyone wants to do. It's the ultimate to represent your country but I still can't take my focus off Wasps," he told Press Association Sport.
"International rugby is something every player wants to play in and wants to achieve but with squad we have at Wasps, if you look elsewhere or take your eye off the game, that could cause a slip up.
"I have to make sure I'm in the 23 and perform every game but everyone wants to play internationally that's why you play rugby, to reach the highest level."
Young was on stand by for Wales' tour of New Zealand in the summer before a hamstring injury ruled him out of the end of the Premiership campaign.
He also underwent shoulder surgery during pre-season but believes the break has allowed him to maintain his form, with five tries in 17 games, which has helped Wasps to the top of the Premiership.
"I got injured the last game of the season and it was a long summer of rehab. I ended up having shoulder surgery as well as repairing a hamstring tendon tear so it was a double whammy," he said. "Things happen for a reason so it gave my body a bit of a rest having played more last year.
"We'd just got into the semi final of the Premiership. I was more disappointed I wouldn't be able to play in that game. We'd done so well to get there so I was disappointed and then to find out I was on stand by hurt but you have to deal with it."
Dad and director of rugby Young, who made 51 appearances for Wales, believes his son deserves a first selection.
He added: "As a dad you'd be no different to any other, you'd be as proud as punch. I have three sons and I'm proud of all of them, he just happens to be playing at Wasps. It would be a great reward for him and justified. He deserves to be selected, I don't think he could have done much more."
