Bayonne's international full-back Scott Spedding has signed up to play for Clermont next season, the Auvergne side announced on their website on Monday.

South African-born Spedding has played in France since 2008 when he joined Brive before moving to Bayonne four years later.

That made him eligible to play international rugby for France and the 28-year-old earned a call-up for the November Test matches due to Brice Dulin's injury, playing against Australia, Fiji and Argentina.

"Scott knows our championship well and we know that he is the type of guy who gives his all and who integrates well," said Clermont head coach Franck Azema.

"We are convinced that he will make further progress at ASM Clermont Auvergne."
