Huddersfield full-back Scott Grix will return to Wakefield in 2017 after signing a two-year contract.

The 32-year-old Ireland international made his Super League debut for the Wildcats after joining them from Widnes in 2008 and moved to the Giants two years later.

"I am excited for a change in my career after spending six years at the Giants," said Grix, who was in the Huddersfield team that won 23-22 at Hull KR on Saturday to secure their Super League place for next season.

"It will be good to play alongside some of my friends and I am looking forward to working with a young set of coaches."

Grix is Wakefield's third confirmed signing following the addition of Batley prop Keegan Hirst and Salford winger Mason Caton-Brown.

Wakefield head coach Chris Chester said: "It is great that I have been able to bring Scott back to Wakefield. It will give us a bit of competition to the full back row along with the experience and guidance to help Max Jowitt."

Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis said: "Scott Grix has been an outstanding professional throughout his time with the Huddersfield Giants and he will be sorely missed by us all here.

"That said things do move on and the opportunity for Scott at Wakefield is a wonderful one and one that he should, and has taken - and has done so with our blessing."
