Newport Gwent Dragons lock Cory Hill called up by Wales

Uncapped Newport Gwent Dragons lock Cory Hill has been called into the Wales squad for this season's autumn Tests.

Wales Under-20 international Hill has trained with the national squad under interim head coach Rob Howley's guidance this week.

And the Welsh Rugby Union confirmed that 24-year-old Hill has now been added to a 36-man group preparing for games against Australia, Argentina, Japan and South Africa next month.

The WRU, meanwhile, gave no further updates on Wednesday regarding current injured players.

Lock Jake Ball, his Scarlets colleagues Liam Williams and Scott Williams, plus Northampton wing George North, have all suffered recent knocks.

But it is thought that North could be involved for his club Northampton when they resume their Aviva Premiership campaign against Franklin's Gardens visitors Gloucester on Friday.

Ball and Liam Williams, meanwhile, were both hurt during the Scarlets' European Champions Cup loss to Saracens four days ago.

Four Wales squad members have been released back to their regions for Guinness PRO12 derby action later this week.

Cardiff Blues pair Lloyd Williams and Rhys Gill, plus Ospreys forwards Scott Baldwin and Dan Lydiate, will be available for respective clashes against the Scarlets and Dragons.

And Ospreys wing Keelan Giles, who has been training with Wales this week, is also available for regional duty.
