London Irish have announced that one of their Aviva Premiership fixtures next season could be played overseas.

It has been reported that the Exiles are hoping to stage a home match in New York close to St Patrick's Day as part of an agreement that that will see the club hold one game in the United States over the next three years.

It would be the first time a Premiership fixture has been played outside of England and the potential opposition has yet to be discussed.

"The club is exploring the possibility of playing a Premiership game at an alternative venue. As soon as details are confirmed we will communicate with our supporters," a club spokesman said.
