London Irish have signed New Zealand-born Scotland international Sean Maitland from Scottish side Glasgow, the English Premiership club announced on Thursday.
London Irish said that the 26-year-old British and Irish Lion, who previously played for the Crusaders and Canterbury, has signed a "long-term contract", but did not provide further details.
"I'm excited to be joining London Irish at the end of the season," Maitland, who can play at wing and full-back, said in a statement released by his new club.
"The structure off the field is exceptional and with the appointments that have been made, the club is clearly striving to get back to the top of the European game and I'm looking forward to being involved in that process."
Maitland played for the New Zealand team that triumphed at the Under-19 World Cup in 2007, but switched allegiances to Scotland, where his grandparents hail from, after joining Glasgow during the 2012-13 season.
He has won 15 caps for Scotland and was a member of the Lions squad that triumphed in Australia under Warren Gatland in 2013.
"Sean is a British and Irish Lion back-three player and proven on the international stage," said London Irish operations director Bob Casey.
"He is the right age, a great character and wants to be a big part of our long term plan."
London Irish announced earlier this week that New Zealand prop Ben Franks will join the club at the end of the season.
