New Zealander John Kirwan was on Thursday appointed coach of the Barbarians for their Killik Cup showdown with Australia at Twickenham on November 1.
The Barbarians also announced that the 49-year-old Auckland Blues head coach, who starred in the All Blacks' 1987 World Cup success, would be at the helm when the invitation team tackle Leicester three days later.
After facing the Barbarians, Australia will go on to play England, Wales, Ireland and France, and Kirwan is eager to provide the Wallabies with a challenging start to their November schedule.
"In my view, it's the first Test of their tour. That is what they will be expecting and that is what we want to deliver," Kirwan said. "It's a privilege and a huge honour to be involved with the Barbarians again.
"Every year the Barbarians are put under pressure, but it's still a huge honour to play and they still compete with the very best."
