Full-back Jamie Shaul missed the birth of his first child in order to help Hull secure a first away win over Catalans Dragons for six years, the Super League club have revealed.
The 23-year-old scored one of the Airlie Birds' seven tries in a 38-10 victory at the Stade Gilbert Brutus to maintain their 100 per cent record at the start of the new season.
In a tweet, Hull FC said: "Special mention to @jamieshaul and partner, Chloe, who have had their first child tonight! Daddy missed the birth to play!"
Former Catalans stand-off Leon Pryce led the tributes to his team-mate, tweeting: "Big shout out to @jamieshaul who became a father over night! Huge commitment."
Hull chartered their own plane to Perpignan and arrived back at Leeds/Bradford Airport just before midnight on Saturday.
