Glasgow prop Mike Cusack has joined Newcastle Falcons until the end of the season.

The tighthead joined the Scotstoun outfit five years ago from Doncaster Knights but has made 48 appearances during an injury-hit stint with Warriors.

The 31-year-old, who is out of contract with Glasgow in the summer, has made five appearances this season.

Cusack - born in Yorkshire but twice capped by Scotland after qualifying through residency rules - said: "I really enjoyed my time at Glasgow Warriors, playing with a team who were always challenging for title success.

"When I was out injured, everyone at the club, especially the medics, were extremely helpful and helped me through a challenging time.

"The supporters were always great with me and I wish everyone at the Warriors all the best in the future.

"I'm looking forward to a new challenge at Newcastle."

Glasgow coash Gregor Townsend said: "Mike probably hasn't played as much as he would have liked recently, so this is a great opportunity for him.

"With Jarrod Firth now available for selection we have really good competition for places in our front-row, so we've agreed for Mike to go down to Newcastle.

"We'd like to thank Mike for all he's done for the club over the last five years and we wish him all the best for the future."
