Edinburgh have welcomed council approval for their Myreside trial move.

The city council has granted the Guinness PRO12 club's planning application for temporary stands at Watsonians' ground, which allows them to move from Murrayfield on a trial basis in the second half of this season.

Edinburgh managing director Jonny Petrie said: "We are delighted with the outcome of today's ruling, and welcome the support of the council.

"Edinburgh truly is one of Europe's great rugby cities and this decision kicks off a very important time for Edinburgh Rugby and its partnership with George Watson's College, who we would like to thank for their ongoing support.

Edinburgh will host Glasgow at Murrayfield on Boxing Day and Munster three weeks later but then plan to move to Myreside for their European Challenge Cup tie with Timisoara Saracens in the third weekend of January.
