Selanne set for surgery after stick to face

Anaheim forward Teemu Selanne will have oral surgery after taking a stick to the face in the Ducks' 3-2 NHL win at Philadelphia on Tuesday.

The Ducks said Wednesday that the Finnish veteran lost several teeth and needed 40 stitches to close a cut suffered when Flyers defenseman Luke Schenn caught him in the face in the third period.

Selanne, 43 and in what he says will be his final NHL season, went down -- but eventually skated off the ice leaving a bloody trail behind him.

Selanne is expected to return to action in two weeks, the Duck said. He has produced three goals and seven points in 11 games this season.

The Ducks, who hold second place in the Pacific Division, take on Boston Thursday.

They complete an eight-game road trip, their longest of the season, with games at Buffalo and the New York Rangers.
