Kirilenko out injured for Timberwolves

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrei Kirilenko has been sidelined by a strained right quadriceps and was benched for the NBA team's game on Wednesday against San Antonio.

The Russian was hurt in the second quarter of the Timberwolves' 100-98 home loss to Portland on Monday and was listed by the club as day-to-day.

Kirilenko, an 11-year NBA veteran, ranks third on the team thi season with 13.3 pointsd and 6.3 rebounds a game.

Minnesota is already without All-Star forward Kevin Love with a broken hand, guard Brandon Roy with a sore knee and swingman Chase Budinger, also with a knee injury.

The Timberwolves, 18-27, are 12th in the Western Conference, seven games behind Utah for the final playoff berth in the West with just under half the season remaining.
