Wilfried Zaha Self-Isolating & Out of Crystal Palace's Game With Burnley

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha will miss Monday evening's trip to Burnley as he is self-isolating, the club have confirmed.

The COVID-19 crisis continues to grip the sporting world, and despite the light now emerging at the end of the tunnel, with the UK Government beginning a phased return of fans from December, the immediate impact is being felt right across football.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Monday that Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is having to self-isolate after coming into contact with a positive case, and now Palace have confirmed Zaha is having to do the same.

A statement from the club reads: "Roy Hodgson has selected Michy Batshuayi for tonight's clash at Burnley, replacing Wilfried Zaha who is omitted from the travelling squad as he is self-isolating."

Zaha had enjoyed a flying start to the Premier League season, scoring five times as he played every minute of the Eagles' opening eight matches.

In his place, Chelsea loanee Batshuayi will join Jordan Ayew up front, as Palace look to build on a strong start to the season. Their 4-1 win over Leeds before the international break edged them into the top half, ahead of both Manchester clubs, and a win on Monday could leave them in a European spot.

Even without Zaha they will be hopeful of doing so against a Burnley team who have been pretty awful. Sean Dyche's magic spell looks as if it may be wearing off, as the Clarets have taken just two points from seven matches, and will be in serious trouble if they can't pick up their first win of the season sooner rather than later.

They face Man City, Everton, Arsenal and Aston Villa following this one - a run that does not look great on paper.
