Watford have confirmed the arrival of Argentine forward Ignacio Pussetto from Udinese on a four and a half year contract.

Pussetto becomes the club's second signing of the January transfer window and he is expected to cost Watford in the region of £7m.

The 24-year-old only joined Udinese in 2018, but Watford confirmed on Tuesday the Argentine would become their latest new addition this season.

Formerly of Club Atlético Huracán in Argentina, Pussetto has gone on to make 50 appearances across all competitions for Udinese, where he scored five goals and picked up the same amount of assists.

He's featured most prominently as a centre forward for I Friulani over the last 18 months, but Pussetto will also be able to provide competition out wide.

Earlier this season, Pussetto scored a late goal against Italian champions Juventus.

The 24-year-old has become Watford's seventh signing of the 2019/20 season and will take their spending to over £40m this campaign.

Ismaïla Sarr (£27m), Craig Dawson (£5m), Tom Dele-Bashiru and Danny Welbeck (both free) joined during the summer transfer window, while Leeds United's Sam Dalby also arrived in their Under-23 side.

This month, Brazilian wonderkid João Pedro completed his long-awaited arrival at Vicarage Road from Fluminense. Watford were forced to wait for him to turn 18 before the move could go through.

Pedro has already made his competitive debut for Watford too, after being brought off the bench in their 3-3 draw against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup.

It's expected that Pussetto's arrival has come in preparation for the imminent departure of Isaac Success, who has been linked with CSKA Moscow, Espanyol and Nantes.
