The Tottenham Lineup That Should Start Against Ludogorets Razgrad

25 November 2020 06:30

Fresh off the back of their very impressive win against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, Spurs will be hoping to keep the momentum going when they face Ludogorets Razgrad on Thursday evening.

The clubs met before the international break and played out an entertaining game in Bulgaria which ended 3-1 to Spurs, with goals from Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Giovani Lo Celso sealing the win for Jose Mourinho's side.

Looking ahead to this one, you'd imagine Jose will rest a few of his key players with a huge game against Chelsea on Sunday. They'll need their squad players to do a job on Thursday, giving the key men some much needed rest.

Tottenham's Europa League group is still wide open, tied with LASK and Royal Antwerp on six points going into matchday four.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Hugo Lloris (GK) - The Frenchman has seen a sharp upturn in form of late with the line in front of him looking as solid as they have done under Mourinho. More of the same from the skipper will go down nicely here.

Serge Aurier (RB) - Never too far away from a silly mistake, the attacking full-back will need to keep his cool in what should be a pretty routine game for Spurs. We know he can cause problems for any side when he's got his head screwed on.

Davinson Sanchez (CB) - With strong performances from both Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier, game time has been hard to come by for Sanchez in recent weeks. But an injury to the Belgian means he will likely return to the side on Thursday.

Eric Dier (CB) - Mourinho's main defender has been impressive as of late. A good performance in their league victory of Manchester City would have done him the world of good going into this game.

Ben Davies (LB) - The arrival of Sergio Reguilon has seen Davies' play-time cut massively. But with the build-up of fixtures over the next month, he'll be hoping to catch his gaffer's eye with some resolute performances, this being a perfect opportunity.

2. Midfielders

Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg (CM) - Since his arrival, Spurs have looked a much stronger outfit. His ability to retain possession for his side has given the players around him much more freedom and license to attack. At this rate, Jose will want him playing every game.

Harry Winks (CM) - A pairing of Winks and Hojbjerg should see Spurs dominate the ball in the middle of the park. Both are strong in possession and have the ability to get their heads-up and carry the ball. Winks will be looking to control the tempo of the game against their opponents here.

Giovani Lo Celso (AM) - Having scored against City, Lo Celso will be full of confidence coming into this game and should play from the off.

3. Forwards

Lucas Moura (RW) - Not getting too much of a look in at the moment, this is Moura's chance to enjoy some football. He'll no doubt be pivotal in pressing the backline as usual.

Carlos Vinicius (ST) - By all accounts, this should be an enjoyable game for Vinicius. He can just go out there and play, he knows he won't be starting ahead of Kane when they face Chelsea at the weekend, giving him somewhat of a free pass. Hopefully that freedom of mindset will see him play well, as he has done whenever he's featured thus far for Spurs.

Gareth Bale (LW) - Since his return to Spurs, Bale's main aim has been to build-up some match fitness. He now looks ready to make his mark on the squad.
