Leicester City remain an excellent side.
It would be understandable if this truth had been overshadowed by their late season collapse that saw the Foxes miss out on Champions League qualification. However, it was remarkable Leicester were even in contention and manager Brendan Rodgers has done a fine job in the east Midlands.
This season promises to be more challenging. Their exploits last season have ensured at least six Europa League matches will be packed into an already crowded schedule. Many observers claim Rodgers is a streaky manager, with equal propensity for boom and bust runs of form. Leicester's fans will be hoping for more consistency this time around.
Sunday's match seems an ideal opportunity to start the season with a win. Newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion have been tipped to struggle by most pundits and will be without the backing of their vocal Hawthorns crowd.
However, complacency should be avoided. Here's how Leicester should line-up against their Midlands rivals.
1. Goalkeeper and Defenders
Kasper Schmeichel (GK) - The Great Dane has been with Leicester throughout their rollercoaster decade and remains one of the league's best goalkeepers. Looks more like his dad every day.
James Justin (RB) - The young right-back made thirteen appearances during his debut season at Leicester. He will be targeted by West Brom as a potential weak spot, but Justin has the potential to override these assumptions.
Wilfred Ndidi (CB) - The Duracell battery midfielder looks likely to fill in at centre-back in the absence of suspended Jonny Evans. While never the most promising move, the versatile Nigerian can be relied upon to perform for the team.
Caglar Soyuncu (CB) - A revelation during most of last season, Soyuncu's campaign ended with a farcical red card at Bournemouth. Has shown enough ability to make the position his own for years.
Timothy Castagne (LB) - The Belgian was signed by Brendan Rodgers to replace the outgoing Ben Chilwell. Having proven himself during Atalanta's fairytale Champions League run, he will be hoping to acclimatise to English football quickly.
2. Midfielders
Demari Gray (RM) - The ex-Birmingham City winger clearly has the talent, but question marks remain over his ability to apply it consistently. Sunday's game may prove an ideal opportunity to start doing so.
Youri Tielemans (CM) - The classy midfielder will be expected to push on this season. A player capable of cutting defences open with one pass, Tielemans' form fell away with Leicester's last year.
Hamza Choudhury (CM) - The absence of Ndidi from midfield provides a chance for Choudhury to shine. Leicester will need to utilise their entire squad in this congested season and the midfielder will be grateful for more minutes.
Dennis Praet (CM) - Another from Leicester's conveyer belt of talented midfielders, Praet has the ability to cause West Brom significant damage. Will look to the make the most of James Maddison's continued absence.
Harvey Barnes (LM) - Barnes will be looking to shine against his former club, having spent a productive loan spell at The Hawthorns two seasons ago. Outrageously talented, Barnes has been tipped by some to play for England.
3. Strikers
Jamie Vardy (ST) - Leicester's prospects this season rest upon his slender shoulders. Premier League top scorer last season, Vardy scored an audacious goal on his last visit to West Brom. Seems to keep getting better with age.
