Liverpool's unbeaten start to the Premier League season continued on Sunday as the Reds picked up a hugely impressive 3-1 win over title rivals Manchester City.
Goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané were enough to overpower the defending champions. Bernardo Silva's late strike was little more than a consolation, and the Reds restored their eight-point lead at the top of the standings.
As noted by Opta, only Manchester United in the 1993/94 campaign have had a bigger lead after 12 games of a Premier League season. The Red Devils held a nine-point advantage, and they went on to win the title with relative ease.
Their forward line has been vital to Liverpool's impressive run of form in recent seasons. Salah has been at the forefront of their success, and he continued his goalscoring run with an impressive header against City.
He has been involved in 69 goals in his 60 appearances at Anfield in all competitions, racking up 51 goals and 18 assists. He has found the back of the net in three of his four home appearances against City in that time.

Also on the score sheet was Fabinho, whose fabulous long-range strike was Liverpool's ninth from outside the box in all competitions this season. No other Premier League side has managed more.
It inspired the Reds to a vital victory and extended their impressive home form against the Cityzens. Liverpool have not lost any of their last 17 home Premier League games against City, winning 12 of those.
Their last defeat to City at Anfield came back in May 2003, when two late Nicolas Anelka goals powered the visitors to a 2-1 win.
However, the tables have turned this season and it is Liverpool who have the upper hand. They are now nine points clear of Pep Guardiola's men, while they boast an eight-point advantage over both Chelsea and Leicester City.
