• Lee Carsley to assist Cotterill and will take charge of team at Hull• Cotterill was Redknapp’s No2 for three games at end of last seasonBirmingham City have appointed Steve Cotterill as their new manager and successor to Harry Redknapp. The 53-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Championship club, and will be assisted by Lee Carsley.Redknapp was sacked on 16 September after City took only four points from their opening eight league games of the season.
