Paul Pogba Close to Injury Return for Manchester United After Removing Ankle Cast

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is nearing a return to the side after having his ankle cast removed on Monday.

The Frenchman has been sidelined since his side's 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal on 30 September, having aggravated a recurring problem during the encounter. He has missed nine games due to the issue, meaning he has been unavailable for a total of 12 games so far during the 2019/20 campaign.

Pogba made the trip to Dubai in October as he looked to speed up the rehab process, though the warm-weather training did little to aid the damage to the 26-year-old's ankle.

He uploaded a video of the cast being taken off to his official Instagram account after travelling to Amsterdam for the procedure, as reported by the Sun.

It represents an important step in Pogba's recovery, but he is still several weeks away from playing for United again, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying he expects the World Cup winner to return in early December.

The Red Devils plan to have the former Juventus star spend the next month building up strength in his ankle before he is allowed to partake in first-team training.

Scott McTominay,Fred

Scott McTominay and Fred have been playing at the base of United's midfield during Pogba's spell on the sidelines, with the duo forming a reliable partnership for Solskjaer.

They both played the entire game as the Norwegian oversaw a 3-1 victory over Brighton on Sunday. Andreas Pereira and Marcus Rashford were on target for the hosts at Old Trafford, while Seagulls midfielder Davy Pröpper put through his own net to aid his opponents' cause.

The win lifted Solskjaer's recruits up to seventh in the Premier League table, though they remain nine points behind fourth-place Manchester City

United have won only four of their 12 top-flight matches this year, but are on course to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League as they top their pool after the first four group fixtures.
