Paris Saint-Germain Make Pep Guardiola Number One Target to Replace Thomas Tuchel

Paris Saint-Germain have placed Pep Guardiola at the top of their wishlist if they are to part company with current boss Thomas Tuchel.

Qatar Sports Investments, the French side's owners, are determined that they could convince Guardiola – who has just one year left to run on his current contract – to leave Manchester City to join the Paris club, believing that he could be the man to finally break their Champions League hoodoo.

Guardiola, on the other hand, has reassured City that he would '100 per cent' be in charge at Manchester City next season, despite falling further behind title rivals Liverpool after City's 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday

Guardiola's family have recently returned to Barcelona, fuelling speculation he might soon call time on his managerial tenure at City. However, The Express report that PSG remain convinced that they stand a chance of picking up the pieces from a below-par season at the Etihad.

When quizzed on his future in his pre-match interview before the weekend's game against Crystal Palace, Guardiola confirmed: "Unless they sack me, I am staying. 100 per cent. Even if it was going bad, I'm not going anywhere."

That game against Palace, in which Sergio Aguero netted a brace before Fernandinho's 90th minute own goal levelled things at 2-2, had Guardiola lamenting his team's inability to take all three points, saying: "It was a tight game, and unfortunately we could not win it."

Despite PSG owners QSI suggesting they would make Guardiola an offer too good to turn down, it appears the Spaniard is fully focused on the task at hand, as he looks to salvage something from a season in which the Premier League title is now surely out of the question.

It remains likely that, given Guardiola is approaching the last year of his contract, City will look to extend his deal in an attempt to warn off potential suitors, including PSG.
