Marcus Rashford's Scintillating Form Highlighted Following Goalscoring Showing Against Man City

After the dust had settled on an enthralling Manchester derby, one man emerged from the battleground with his name in all the headlines after yet another superb showing for his club.

Taking on the champions, Manchester United put their cross-city rivals to the sword with an excellent display that showcased fight, hunger, desire and had all those on the #OleOut brigade questioning their standpoint.

Leading the way on this surge up the table has been Marcus Rashford, whose immense form for club and country showed no signs of letting up after he netted the opening goal from the penalty spot against a beleaguered Manchester City.

Since bursting onto the Premier League scene due to an injury-hit United frontline, the English striker has continued to see his stock rise. Although, this season, Rashford is taking his goalscoring abilities to new-found levels.

As revealed by Opta, the Red Devils academy product has now scored 13 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions this season - equalling his best goalscoring return for United in a single season (13 goals in 47 apps in 2018/19 and 13 goals in 52 apps in 2017/18).

With the season not even at the halfway point, on current form, there is no reason why the 22-year-old can't blow his record out of the water. Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has taken note too, seeing the forward's importance to his club as well as his country underlined by his goal contributions since the season began.

Indeed, Rashford has been directly involved in 15 goals in his last 14 games in all competitions for United and England (13 goals, two assists), placing him among the country's top scorers, third, to be precise, behind fellow countrymen Tammy Abraham and Jamie Vardy.

His goals for England have seen Southgate's side qualify for next summer's European Championships, while United's recent resurgence has seen them move up to fifth in the Premier League table, just four points off the top four.

The club have improved massively since their early-season wobble, with a great deal of that attributed to Rashford's scintillating form this campaign, who is going from strength to strength under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
