Jurgen Klopp and Sean Dyche in half-time altercation during Burnley's win at Anfield

Liverpool's Premier League fixture with Burnley on Thursday night was blockbuster stuff, even if the quality on the pitch was lacking somewhat.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp shocked plenty with his decision to drop Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in favour of Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but the team selection backfired.

The hosts failed to find a way past Nick Pope, who was in inspired form for Sean Dyche's side, before the visitors earned a penalty as Alisson brought down Ashley Barnes.

The striker converted the spot kick to earn Burnley an incredible win, ending Liverpool's 68-game unbeaten league run at Anfield. It also sees them lose ground in the Premier League title race, having failed to win any of their last five games.

However, just before the half-time interval Fabinho and Barnes clashed which resulted in players from both teams engaging in, in lack of a better word, 'handbags'. VAR was consulted and no one was dismissed, with Fabinho yellow carded.

Shortly after, Klopp and Dyche were seen exchanging some pretty stern words with each other. There was some pretty wild gesticulating thrown in for good measure, too.

Unfortunately for us, Klopp declined to spill too many beans on the conversation during his post-game interview. He told Sky Sports: "If he's not talking about it, I will not talk about it." So, not much to read into there, then.

Thursday night's blank was Liverpool's fourth league game without a goal, that being the first time a Jurgen Klopp side has done so since his Mainz team did in the Bundesliga between November and December 2006.

The Reds are in FA Cup action next when they host Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday before they return to league action on Thursday at Tottenham.
