Fulham Make Contact With Leicester Over January James Justin Loan Deal

04 December 2019 04:10

Fulham have made an enquiry about taking Leicester City right back James Justin on loan for the rest of the season in January.

Justin was signed from Luton for a £7m fee that could rise to £10m in the summer after helping secure League One promotion with the Hatters.

He has had to play second fiddle to Ricardo Pereira for the right back slot in Brendan Rodgers team this season, making just two appearances for the Foxes, both in the Carabao Cup.

According to Football Insider, the England Under-21 international might see his opportunity for first team football come in the shape of a loan move to Fulham.

The Cottagers are looking to improve their defensive options as they bid to bounce straight back to the Premier League after being relegated last year.

Rodgers now faces a difficult decision, as he would not have any cover should Ricardo get injured after title winning right back Danny Simpson left the club in the summer.

But it is understood that he is keen to aid the development of Justin, who was an unused substitute for the 14th time this season as Leicester claimed a dramatic victory over Everton on Sunday.

Ricardo has started every Premier League game for the Foxes this season, and has been a key part of Leicester's impressive top four push, contributing two goals and one assist.

Fulham currently have Cyrus Christie and Steven Sessegnon to choose from at right back, but it is understood that they want to add Justin - who can also play left back - to the mix.

The 21 year-old was named in the League One team of the year as Luton gained promotion last season.

He would be joining a Fulham side that are well placed for a promotion push after four consecutive wins. The Londoners currently sit third in the Championship five points off Leeds in the automatic promotion spots.
