James Tarkowski is understood to be keen on a move to Leicester City after the Foxes reignited their interest in the Burnley man.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers courted the England international last summer as he looked to bolster his defensive options at the King Power Stadium, though the move failed to materialise.
However, with the Foxes yet again looking to enter into discussions with the Clarets regarding Tarkowski’s availability, The Mirror (via HITC) report that the 27-year-old is open to a move should the two clubs come to an agreement.
Despite the centre-back’s willingness to discuss a move, a deal seems some way off, with the Daily Mail claiming that the Burnley hierarchy intend to rebuff any approaches for the former Brentford man which don’t meet his £50m release clause.
Much has been made of Leicester’s need to add to their squad should they wish to push on and challenge for a top-four spot next season.
Having enjoyed a stellar opening to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, the Foxes’ season somewhat fell apart as injuries and suspensions took their toll, with the club losing out on a place in next season’s Champions League on the final day.
Çağlar Söyüncü’s red card away at Bournemouth appeared to be the catalyst for their late collapse, with Rodgers forced to call upon 36-year-old Wes Morgan and Wolves loanee Ryan Bennett in the Turkey international’s absence, as the Foxes went on to lose three of their final four games.
The signing of Tarkowski would offer competition for places with current first-choice centre-back pairing Söyüncü and Jonny Evans.
The Burnley man’s stock has enjoyed a substantial rise since his 2016 January move to Turf Moor. He’s gone onto become a vital part of the Clarets side alongside club captain Ben Mee, with his solid performances earning international recognition.
