Burnley have endured further transfer misery after seeing their bid for Charlton Athletic's Nick Pope rejected.

The Daily Mirror reported that the Clarets have been rebuffed in their advances for Pope after they lodged a £900k offer for the goalkeeper.

It is the third time this week that Burnley have seen transfer bids rejected following Derby County's and Brighton's refusals to sell Jeff Hendrick and Dale Stephens respectively.

Huddersfield Town v Charlton Athletic - Sky Bet Championship

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is eager to bolster his first-team squad after guiding his side back into the Premier League.

The 45-year-old had eyed up a move for Charlton's Pope, and hoped to bring the 24-year-old to Turf Moor as back up for current number one keeper Tom Heaton.

However, the Championship side are defiant in their stance to keep hold of Pope, who has made 38 appearances in all competition for the Addicks.

Brentford v Derby County - Sky Bet Championship

Meanwhile, Derby rejected a £3.5m offer from Burnley for the services of midfielder Hendrick, who played for the Republic of Ireland at the recent Euro 2016 championships in France.

The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Pride Park, and has amassed 211 appearances in all competitions for the Rams since making his debut in April 2011.

Burnley were also sent packing by Brighton & Hove Albion over centre midfielder Stephens, with the Gulls rebuffing a £4m bid from Dyche's side.

Stephens has plied his trade on the South coast since a January 2014 move from Charlton.

However, the former Bolton Wanderers and Oldham man is said to be keen on returning to the North West of England, and has also entered the final year of his contract at the Falmer Stadium - moves that could eventually lead Brighton to sell the 26-year-old.

Burnley are yet to decide whether to make improved offers for the trio.
