Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have made a shock offer for Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sørloth, who is currently out on loan with Turkish club Trabzonspor.
The Norwegian forward joined the Eagles back in 2018 but failed to score in 16 Premier League appearances, resulting in the temporary switch to Turkey.
Roy Hodgson sent the Norwegian out on loan during the summer transfer window after a very unsuccessful spell in the Premier League. The loan is supposed to be a two-year deal with a view to making it permanent for €6m at the end of the spell.
However, Monaco have reportedly offered €15m to the Turkish club so that they could sign the former Midtjylland man at the end of his loan spell. Trabzonspor are reluctant to do this given both the striker's form and that there are still 18 months left on his contract.
Monaco sit tenth in the French top flight but have struggled more at the back than going forward, making this offer somewhat surprising. They are the league's second top scorers having bagged 38 in 23 games with Wissam Ben Yedder impressing in his first season with Monaco, scoring 15 in the league.
Ben Yedder is 29, though, and their second choice Islam Slimani is only on loan from Leicester, so Sørloth is possibly seen as more of an option for the future. The 24-year-old is playing some of the best football of his career and has his prime ahead of him.
If this deal was to go ahead then Palace would only receive the €6m that is involved in the move to Trabzonspor and nothing of the €15m that Monaco have offered.
This is looking very far into the future though, and it's most likely that Sørloth will complete a move to Turkey at the end of the loan spell.
