Ivan Ljubicic caused a major surprise in the final of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells by beating Andy Roddick in straight sets.
The 31-year-old Croatian, who had only been seeded 20th for the tournament, beat last year's beaten Wimbledon finalist 7-6, 7-6.
It was Ljubicic's tenth ATP title and but his first Masters Series success after losing his three previous finals.
The delighted Croat, who had beaten Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic earlier in the tournament, said after his success: "It's been a fantastic week.
"It was really a mind game. When you have two big servers there are not a lot of rallies happening, it's a very mental match.
"I was fortunate enough to be more relaxed by the end."
