Andy Murray crashed out BNP Paribas Open in Indian wells following a 6-1, 7-6 quarter-final defeat at the hands of Robin Soderling.

The British number one struggled to find top form for much of the match and was eventually overpowered by the big-hitting Swedish sixth seed.

Soderling moves through to take on home favourite Andy Roddick in the last four, after the American saw off Tommy Robredo of Spain in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.

The other semi-final sees defending champion Rafael Nadal face Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia.

In the women's final Jelena Jankovic will take on Caroline Wozniacki, with the Serb having proved too strong for Australia's Samantha Stosur in the last four, running out a 6-2, 6-4 winner.

Denmark's Wozniacki was an equally convincing 6-2, 6-3 victor over Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.
