Andy Murray believes the signs are positive after easing into the third round of the BNP Paribas Open following a straight sets victory over Italy's Andreas Seppi in Indian Wells.
Murray ran out a comfortable 6-4 6-4 winner and will now take on either Michael Russell of the USA or Russia's Igor Andreev in the next round.
The British number one lost in straight sets to fellow Russian Igor Kunitsyn in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championship last month following a tentative return to action after reaching the final of the Australian Open.
"I did what I needed to do," explained Murray. "I was moving pretty well and got the win in straight sets so that's good.
"I feel fit, I've had a few weeks off. I've had seven or eight days to get used to the conditions here, it's pretty warm and breezy so its pretty tough conditions but I'll get used to them and hopefully I'll get better."
Elsewhere, there were also second-round victories for fellow high seeds Roger Soderling and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
However, 12th seed Frenchman Gael Monfils was defeated 1-6 6-2 6-3 by Simon Gruel of Germany.
