Murray misses out
Andy Murray's attempt to become the first British man to reach a Wimbledon final since before the Second World War was thwarted by an in-form Andy Roddick in the late afternoon sunshine on Centre Court. The American booked his place in Sunday's final with some great tennis, winning 6-4 4-6 7-6 7-6.
Murray had an early wake-up call, losing the first set, but broke serve early in the second set to level the tie.
Roddick bounced back and appeared to be controlling the game in the third set with Murray clearly rattled. The Scotsman clawed his way back into the set but, despite serving three aces, was unable to win the tie-break.
Roddick will now face his arch-nemesis Roger Federer, who eased into his seventh consecutive Wimbledon final beating Tommy Haas 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 6-3 earlier in the day.
