Murray receives Roger warning
Roger Federer has warned Andy Murray that he will not hold any advantage over the Swiss master if they meet in the final at Wimbledon on Sunday. Murray has a superior record against the world number two beating him six times in their last eight meetings.The British number one is on course to face the 14-time grand slam winner in the final as defending champion Rafael Nadal was forced to withdraw from the tournament.
But after beating Murray in the US Open Final last year, Federer says he will not be affected by the form guide and is determined to beat Pete Sampras' record at the All England Club.
Federer said: "There is a lot of speculation about that. I want the chance to win Wimbledon again and that is my goal this year.
"Andy is an excellent player and prior to finals he has always beaten me.
"I don't want to take anything away from him or make an excuse, but he played me when I have had back problems which made it hard for me to play my best game.
"But he played me in the right way and was successful against me because he is a great tactician and he will be a great grass player in the future."
Many critics had written off Federer at the start of the year after he lost against Nadal in the final of the Australian Open.
But the number two seed showed his quality when he bounced back in style to win the French Open in May, which completed a career grand slam and put him on level terms with Sampras who won 14 slams during his memorable career.
Tennis legend Bjorn Borg believes Federer is the greatest ever tennis player to have played the game - something the Swiss player refuses to get carried away with and is just focusing on regaining his position as the number one player in the world.
Federer added: "I am very down to earth and not going to say I am (the greatest). It definitely feels great being part of such an elite group."
