Lowes: Wolves deserved more credit for Leeds win
Warrington Wolves boss James Lowes believes his charges have not been given enough credit for their 22-12 victory over second placed Leeds Rhinos last Saturday.Tries from Jon Clarke, Ben King, Clint Mitchell and Chris Hicks helped Warrington overturn the current Super League and World Club Challenge champions in a thrilling encounter at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
But Lowes is unhappy with those who focused on Leeds' injury plight rather than the skill in which the Wolves gained the two points.
He said: "Without question last week we played one of the two best sides in the competition along with St Helens and I was impressed with our performance.
"We did some really good stuff and dominated them.
"There is still work to do but I was very very impressed with how we played.
"But some of the media and some of the commentary during the game was focused on what Leeds weren't doing right and talking about their injuries rather than discussing what we were doing right.
"That can be a little bit disappointing at times but we won't let that affect us."
Lowes was keen to not to blame anybody from Leeds Rhinos themselves for the less-than-positive comments.
He added: "I don't think it was Leeds themselves, I spoke to their boys after the match and they had some good stuff to say about us.
"Anything said won't stop us playing with a smile on our faces though."
