New Orleans Saints caused a major surprise to beat Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Miami to clinch their first Super Bowl, less than five years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Drew Brees was the Saints' hero, hitting a record-equalling 32 passes for 288 yards, with touchdowns to Pierre Thomas and Jeremy Shockey.
Cornerback Tracy Porter's score sealed the victory, while Garrett Hartley kicked three field goals of over 40 yards as the Saints hit back to win despite trailing 10-0 early on in the game.
Kicker Matt Stover, the oldest player in Super Bowl history at 42 years and 11 days, had hit a 38-yard field goal and receiver Pierre Garcon scored a touchdown to put the Colts in early control.
But the Saints hit back with 13 unanswered points and from then on there was only ever going to be one winner.
