Mark Williams defeated Shaun Murphy to claim the spoils in week two of the Premier League snooker season in Guildford.
The Welshman beat Murphy 3-1, finishing the final in style by scoring a century after previously whitewashing Jimmy White 3-0 in the semis.
The victory means Williams is now level with compatriot Matthew Stevens at the top of the table and the two-time world champion believes his ability to win tight frames made the difference in the final.
"Even though I won 3-1, I nicked a couple of frames off of Shaun that he probably should have won," he told Sky Sports.
"But that's how it goes. You've got to nick those ones, because it's easy to make breaks and win, but it's those (close frames) that really hurt your opponent."
