Stephen Hendry says he still loves playing snooker and vowed to continue for another year, despite recently hinting at retirement.

The 42-year-old seven-time world champion appeared set to end his illustrious career in the sport following his 13-4 defeat at the hands of Mark Selby in the second round of the ongoing World Snooker Championships at the Crucible in Sheffield.

However, having had time to ponder his future, Hendry revealed that he will carry on playing for at least another year.

Speaking while commentating on the semi-finals at the Crucible, he told BBC Sport: "I still love playing the game. I want the chance to come back here.

"I'm going to play all the tournaments. There's no point being half-hearted."
