Lewis Moody remains in a positive frame of mind over his fitness, with England's World Cup opener against Argentina fast approaching.

There are a number of players carrying a knock of some sort ahead of the Pool B clash in Dunedin on September 10, not least Moody who has been restricted to just 62 minutes of Test rugby this year.

However, the Bath flanker, who missed the entire Six nations campaign earlier this year, is confident he will have shrugged off the knee strain sustained in the warm-up win over Wales at the start of August.

"The target is still next week and playing against Argentina," said Moody.

"Everything at the minute says we are on the right path. Everyone has been very confident and I am happy at how it has gone.

"I just need to get through training and be happy in my own head that my knee is good and the physios need to be happy."

There are other doubts over Ben Youngs (knee), Mark Cueto (back), Mike Tindall (hamstring), Tom Wood (calf), Nick Easter (calf) and Simon Shaw (stomach bug), although head coach Martin Johnson is confident they will all be ready by the time the tournament begins.
