Gavin Henson has set his sights on winning back his place in the Wales squad ahead of the 2011 World Cup.
Henson, 28, has been on indefinite leave from club side Ospreys for 12 months after losing his appetite for the game.
The 31-times capped centre has not played since March 2009 but has revealed that his impending participation in a reality television series has led to a career rethink.
"I've never been to a Rugby World Cup. The next is 2011 and I'm thinking about training for that," he said.
"Hopefully I can get back into rugby, do well and get into the World Cup squad. It's the one thing that is not on my CV.
"Being in a team environment and the competition element just made me realise what I was missing.
"This is probably the first step on the ladder to getting my rugby career back."
The former British & Irish Lions international struggled with a succession of injuries before his self-imposed break.
However, Henson continually denied suggestions that he had turned his back on rugby for good.
