Crusaders have announced they are hoping to earn a place in the Championship next term after failing to apply for a Super League spot.
There were fears the Welsh outfit would go out of existence after they pulled out of the running for the application to play in the top flight, as it was decided they could not afford to play in the Super League.
However, the club's chief executive Rod Findlay has started the process of re-forming the team, in a bid to feature in the Championship next season and keep rugby league alive in the north of Wales.
Plans are already in place to keep the team at the Racecourse Ground, with Findlay determined to keep the Crusaders alive.
He said: "We have announced our intention to apply for a spot in the Championship for 2012.
"There have been over 4,000 expressions of support in a short space of time and that, along with backing from the business community, has given us the confidence to press ahead.
"The next step is to prepare a business plan to send to the RFL for approval and then we will need to sit down and think about recruiting coaches and players."
