Wigan winger Pat Richards has been named the Rugby League Writers' Association player of the year.
Richards led the Super League in tries (29) following the end of the regular season and equalled the record for points in a campaign (388) during a prolific year.
The Ireland international polled more than half of the votes from rugby league journalists, with Warrington trio Adrian Morley, Ben Westwood and Lee Briers plus Wigan brothers Sam and Joel Tomkins also recognised.
"It's an honour to get this award," said Richards. "I'm a bit surprised actually. I'm just happy to do my job out there.
"I've got to thank everyone in the team. Being a winger, my team-mates have helped me this year by creating the tries. My job is to finish them off."
Wigan finished the regular season at the top of the table and Richards is now looking forward to the play-offs, starting with a home clash against Leeds on Sunday.
"We've done a lot of hard work to get where we've got to," he added. "Finishing first gives us a good opportunity in the play-offs but it's always about what you do in the last four weeks of the season.
"That's all we're working hard on and hopefully we can finish the year off strong."
