Catalans Dragons coach Kevin Walters is resigned to losing Australian stand-off Adam Mogg, who has expressed his desire to return to Canberra Raiders.

The 32-year-old former Queensland State of Origin player has asked to be released from the remaining 20 months of his Dragons deal after being given the chance to act as cover for Canberra's utility player Joel Monaghan, who is currently sidelined with a thumb injury.

Mogg has been with the Dragons since the start of the 2007 season and Walters admitted: "He's trying to negotiate a release. It's not good news for the Dragons.

"He's been a terrific player for the club in his time here and he'll be missed.

"I'm not too sure what's happening back in Australia, but he's been over here four or five years and it can be difficult when you've not got the support of your family and friends."
